I am so excited to be featured on HerStry as part of their March Monthly Theme Essay series!
HerStry publishes essays and poetry by only women and woman-identifying writers. It’s such a welcoming, empowering space where even humble lil bloggers like me can participate and share their stories. There’s a statement on the site that I love: Sharing your story is a revolutionary act. If that’s not empowerment, I don’t know what is!
My featured essay is an updated/edited version of a post I initially wrote in 2017 titled Me, My Depression, and I. It was the first time I had ever publicly acknowledged my journey with depression & anxiety, and clicking the “publish” button was scary as hell. But choosing to take steps toward destigmatizing my own mental health issues is one I will never, ever regret.
I have grown and changed so much in the last two years, and the way I talk about my depression & anxiety has evolved over time, too. But it was important for me to revisit this piece and share it with at least one more person who may be where I was when I wrote it or even where I was 10 years ago.
While you’re at HerStry, check out some of the other contributions to the Monthly Theme Essays. There are some awesome ladies sharing their brave stories.
Thanks for sharing this exciting moment with me!
