No Need for Mirrors comes from the song Heaven Breaks by Sleeping at Last:
When heaven meets the earth,
there will be no need for mirrors
to tell us who to be or where we
fit into this awkward point of view.
Let’s be honest. We so often look in the wrong places to try to discover who we are. We build our identity around who we want to become, not who who’ve been made to be right. this. second.
These lyrics paint such a beautiful picture of my vision for this space: An open, honest dialogue about the trials & triumphs of life as a single exvangelical 30-something and you — however you label yourself — where we are not defined by our past mistakes, our Instagram feeds, our church’s expectations for us (or anyone else’s, for that matter), or even our own mirrors. It’s an awkward point of view from here, but we do fit in. There’s a place for all of us.
